Deed of
division

If you have bought a house together and you break up, one partner can buy out the other partner. To record this, you have to have a deed of division drawn up by a civil-law notary.

Provisions

Reference in the deed of division is made, for example, to:

the description of the joint property
the assets and liabilities
the acquisition of ownership
the mortgage / the pledge
the division and what happens if more than a rightful share is received by one party
release from joint and several liability under the mortgage and any other debts
discharge regarding the division

Notary interpreter

As an English interpreter and a certified English translator, I assist you during the execution of the deed of division. The civil-law notary gives a short reading of the substance, after which you sign the deed. I will also have to sign it, because I am mentioned in the deed as the interpreter.
