About Us
Tupelo Translations is a young and enthusiastic translation agency that specialises in the translation of legal and official documents. From our office in Rotterdam, we provide services for law firms, notaries, judicial authorities, port companies, international organisations and many more.
At the helm
Standing at the helm is Bianca Wijnstekers. It’s a pleasure to meet you! I’m a sworn translator for English-Dutch and Dutch-English who is passionate about translating your legal documents. And the person who runs the agency from A to Z. If you contact Tupelo Translations, then I am the one who will answer your call or email.
Why we?
Why do I present my translation agency as ‘we’? My agency quickly took off in its first year, resulting in more work than I could manage on my own. Change was necessary. Since I didn’t want to turn clients away, I reached out to other freelance translators and editors in my network and, in no time, I was outsourcing assignments. By now, I’ve built a flexible pool of professional freelancers who have proved exceptional in their respective fields. So, the success of my translation agency is very much a joint effort. That’s why ‘we’. To keep things simple for you, as the client, I am the one responsible for your projects and your point of contact. Handy, right?

about the education I have received and what I must do to renew my registration as a sworn translator every five years.
Education
In 2006, I completed the bachelor English Language & Culture and in 2009 the master Translating English & Dutch, both at the Utrecht University. I set up my legal translation agency at the beginning of 2014 and, in that same year, I was sworn in by the Rotterdam Court of Justice and added to the register of the Sworn Court Interpreters and Translators (Bureau Wbtv).
Training
As a sworn translator, I must renew my registration every five years. I do this by following courses and trainings for which I receive the Permanent Education Points necessary for the renewal. In 2019, after finishing the course Legal Translation EN-NL/NL-EN by the Legal Aid Board, the renewal of my registration was approved for another 5 years. Instructor Chris Odijk, sworn English translator, writes:
“Ms Wijnstekers was a meticulous and enthusiastic student who continued to show strong commitment to legal translation. Her insight into legal terminology was exceptional.”
